Then I went to a used book store and found a copy of Dougal Dixon's After Man: A Zoology of the Future and read it from cover to cover. Sapolsky; The Theory of Island Biogeography by Robert H. Sex at Dawn by Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha; After Man: A Zoology of the Future by Dougal Dixon; A Primate's Memoir by Robert M. It sparked a bigger interest in me than was there previously. Last one is “Liger” by Napoleon Dynamite. Anyone with an interest in the subject will immediately think of Dougal Dixon's book 'After man, a zoology of the future' (see my installment on 'Why there's no walking on tentacles' for a glimpse at one of his other works). I'd heard of Dougal Dixon's After Man: A Zoology of the Future, but not of Peter Ward's Future Evolution. A couple of the more exciting book stumbles I've enjoyed recently are Geologist Dougal Dixon's “zoology of the future,” After Man (1981), and its “anthropology of the future” sequel, Man After Man (1990).
